It occurred to me while driving home that so far as the seat belt is concerned there are only 3 kinds of human:
    1. Those who cannot see the belt around the waist
    2. Those who can
    3. And finally, those who cannot
Might be a better classification than BMI

Way into the late 90's my Aunt would buy brand new vehicles and then immediately get them home and go outside with a knife and cut out the seat belts.

EVERYONE would tell her not to do it. That it would hurt resale, as well as being dangerous, and lead to tickets and violations. But she came from a 1940's and 1950's generation where some women valued not wrinkling the "dress" over vehicular driving safety, plus I feel she just didn't like the feeling of being strapped in.

I think the very last vehicle she owned, because of getting a few violations and being ticketed, she finally left the seat belts IN.

Luckily, having that attitude never cost her anything but a ding on resale value. She never was in an accident where the lack of a seat belt lead to any appreciable greater injury or harm to herself or the occupants. BUT that was simply pure luck.

So I guess my Aunt was that very rare 4th type of human. Those that go at the Seat Belts with a steak knife.

I think #3 means those who are too fat to fasten their seat belts.
