What was your indicated mpg and calculated mpg and miles driven on your first tank? Have you set up a fuelly account yet. Always fun to compare notes..
The same way as in any car. Reset the trip meter after you refuel (I use trip A for this) and next time you go to refuel divide the total miles driven for that tank by how many gallons of fuel pumped and that's your calculated mpg. The indicated mpg is usually 5% +\- more than your calculated mpg, and that can be found on your mfd next to your trip miles for that tank.
Calculated or indicated on the mfd? How many miles did you drive before filling up with that 9.5 gallons? If calculated, that is truly amazing for an entire tank in a persona w/17's for your first fill up? But it is possible driving 55 mph with no ac usage and very little stop n go or short trips. 42-46 mpg calculated lifetime is the norm for most folks with personas on fuelly and on here it seems...
I have 33psi from 32 rear as the door says. 530 miles mainly highway for now (which is rare) but I had some trips to take. I waited until the last bar. I am curious how mainly city driving will be now.
And it only took exactly 9.5 gallons to fill your car up after 530 miles? I have only gone to 530 +\-once and I was past 0 miles till empty for like 50+ miles... Are you sure your trip meter was zero'd out when you first got the car? I'm thinking no.. A 500+ mile tank on a Prius w/ 17's is not the norm unless ran down way past the refuel light and that's driving pretty slow (like 55mph'ish) and that would take 10-11+ gallons if ran almost dry.. And you are running tire pressure under mfg. recommendation and still getting that good of mpg? I run 44f/42r... FYI. I think stock is 36/34?
Let me try again fresh this time around and I'll post it again vs going from the dealer. I just drove 120 miles at 65mph avg mainly highway miles today, but the rest should be city driving.

With the low profile 17's the ride gets rough(er) quick with raised pressures. I've settled on 34psi all around: barely higher. I used to run them around 38, but noticed little or no difference with the drop to 34. Regarding rough ride: Diagonal placed speed bumps are hands-down the worst, you can give yourself a kneck injury, going over them at anything faster than dead slow. For calculating, recording the odometer reading at each fillup is most bullet-proof. I do reset trip meter too, for feedback and as a check, but I rely on the odo.
Oh ok. Well that sounds about right for a tank with mostly highway miles at moderate speed, 65 mph you said. So subtract the 5% +\- for the overly optimistic mfd and you are right around 47-48 calculated mpg still very good and a whole heck of a lot better than the 4runners 15 or so mpg right?
Another thing I do just to keep track is I reset trip B when I bought the car new and never touched it since, I use trip A for tank to tank calculations. It's pretty neat to see where Trip B will level out and how winter affects the lifetime mpg and how it goes up in spring and fall with less ac use.. I'm currently leveled out at 45 mpg lifetime indicated on her and I'm over 8k miles. So like just under 43 mpg calculated give or take a little. 18 or so mile commute each way into the city from the suburbs. Half highway, half stop n go.. Some trips, and the rest is putting around doing errands and stuff.
I reset B just today so just leave it from now on your saying? That makes sense. I'll try it out over time to see how it looks in winter, summer, etc....good info
