How much will cost toyota dealer fog lights + install?

Not sure about your year, but if it's anything like the 3rd generation (2010 and on) OEM fog lights, they're more-or-less ornamental. I switch ours on sometimes, on a poorly lit road. Then invariably switch them on/off a few times, just to make sure something's happening. There are aftermarket offerings, you'll need to research, and others will chime in with what's good.

 

Yup, at least the 3rd gen OEM fog lights. Again, there are aftermarket options.

 

I have found mine to be very useful in heavy fog, which we have often in spring and fall.

I bought mine here in the Prius Chat Shop and installed them myself.

 

The oem type reflector based foglights, which lack effective cutoffs to prevent glare, are basically useless. Glare not only blinds oncoming drivers, but also gets reflected back off fog into the driver's eyes, similar to highbeams.

Foglights with a good cutoff like these are much better. They can have halogen, HID, or LED bulbs in them:

For both of these high quality foglights you will need foglight shrouds, dashboard switch, and wiring harness. None of them is included in the two linked foglights above. Cheap oem style foglights for the Prius is available from ebay for under $50 which you can buy to get the parts you need.

Installing the foglights is a moderately involved process, which takes about 3 hours if you take your time.

If you can't install them yourself, then any stereo shop, or auto alarm shop should be able to install them easily.

 

With the second gen. Prius the fogs are a way for the manufacturer to distinguish the high end model from the low. They come on when you turn the switch but are useless for actually driving by. I suspect the factory fogs for a gen. III would be the same. You can of course add real fogs yourself.

 

You ask what the dealer installed fog lights will cost. Why not call the dealer and ask?

 

Ive been looking into this too - There are kits on Ebay that appear to either be OEM or like OEM. You will need a new lower grille, the fog lights (obvi), some wiring, and whatever other peripherals involved. I think the cost associated with all of the parts was around $200.

My fogs became handy after One of my headlights doesn't turn on. I spared myself of getting a ticket for having it.

 

I installed mine by myself but needs rewiring with those ebay knock off kits. I would prefer buying straight from the dealer that would cost you around $250 for an OEM. The only challenge is to run the wire to the firewall. Taking out the bumper is just easy with some clips to undo.

 

I respectfully disagree. Why spend $250 dollars to get oem foglights that are pretty poor performance wise?

Makes more sense to buy a cheap eBay kit for parts + higher quality foglights like the two I linked in my previous post.
