Russia decrees all petrol stations must have EV charge points installed by November 2016. Russia Decrees: Every Gas Station Must Have Electric-Car Charging Too I guess it's one of the benefits of a dictatorship, but equally it is putting the UK and US to shame. Will we follow their lead? Strange how the oil producers Norway and now Russia are encouraging EVs.
Many parts of Europe and some stations in the UK are introducing charging at filling stations. They have the facilities, they usually how suitable power connections and the garage is still getting the custom. I don't know how gas stations compare in the US as I've never been, but here a trend is to turn them into convenience stores that just happen to have petrol/diesel pumps. Plenty of parking is provided and if a charge point means an addition parking bay is for a charger, then so be it.
That's pretty much what they are here. The most common, and generally cheapest, gas station company in my area started life as a dairy and convenience store chain. Wawa for those interested. So EV chargers will provide BEV drivers an excuse to stop, use the rest room, get coffee, and maybe a sandwich. They don't have to stay to completely fill their battery.
