We do not get much state-by-state sales data. So here is plug-in data for Washington State...about 13000 total. King County is, well, the King of Plug_ins http://www.westcoastgreenhighway.com/pdfs/PEVregistrationbycountybymake.pdf
The numbers amaze me. I am in Pierce co and moving soon to Thurston co. I am retired so do not commute but I have not seen these cars so must pay closer attention. I will add to the list as I am giving up my Prius and looking at the Volt 2017, hopefully early spring, The 2017 will have Advanced Radar Cruise Control like I now enjoy so much in the Prius. Wish our state would join the eleven states on the California qualifications so we would get the better warranties and earlier sales.
Keep in mind WA has incentive for plug-ins under $35k...not sure what the new Volt comes in at. PS- I got wind of this data from the latest Washington Hybrid Report which comes out every 2 weeks. One of my favorite newsletters.
Thanks I did not know of the WHR. I signed up. The incentive is good for the base Volt but alas my advanced model will be over that limit.
Sales of EVs Hit 150,000 In California, Almost 1 Of Every 6 Sold Worldwide My guess is then california is 15% of world wide plug-in sales, 42% of US. Washington would then be 1.3% of world wide, and 3.6% of US sales. We have a clue of who did better than Washington. California Leads Nation In Tesla Model S Sales, But Which Other States Are In Top 10? For tesla Florida 7.3%, Texas 5.8% to Washington's 4.6%. The volt does well in Michigan, the leaf in Georgia and Tennessee. I would bet that those states along with Illinois, New York, New Jersey, and Arizona make up at least 33% which added to California make up three quarters of plug-ins sold in the US. Florida, Texas, and New York make it because they are populated states with lots of cars.
According my calcs, plug-ins sales since 2011 have been 46% in CA...current plug-in sales have been >50% in CA. Tesla sales data is interesting I wish we could get all the states incl. Va. and Md. I did not see any additional data besides what InsideEV's said.
