In the event you may want to disconnect both the 12v and the traction battery, what's the correct process? If I recall, I think you disconnect the 12v first then disconnect the traction battery. You'll lose all settings and stuff, but that's the steps. Reverse to reconnect. I believe the connection for the traction battery is basically a plug with a nut/bolt securing it in place (remove the nut first).
I don't think there's a purpose in disconnecting the traction battery, does it reset anything? The orange interlock switch would disconnect any power to it.
While I'll have to go check again to refresh my memory, I don't recall any tools being needed. Just grab the orange plug, twist and pull. But absent some serious electrical or mechanical work on the car, there should be little reason to disconnect the traction battery. When the 12V system is shut down, the traction battery is automatically disconnected by a relay inside the battery shell.
I'm wondering what the process is for removing the traction battery. Obviously it must first be disconnected, and I presume that means 12v first THEN traction battery.
Yes. Always disconnect the 12v prior to working on the hybrid battery. Keep asking questions. Better to risk appearing foolish than to kill yourself!
