    It was cheaper and known to be a bit more moisture prone but they thought they found a way to keep it stable. All the other stuff used are explosives too, so its just a fine difference in chemical behavior and storage life before the intended rate of burn goes bad.

    well, it was not cheaper in the long run. i guess the silver lining is the Japanese government won't let them go belly up.
