Hi all. I've never owned a Prius. I've got a line on an '09 that drives and runs well (or seems to, according to my very limited knowledge). I've got these readings from Torque. I'm new to torque, too. I think I understand what "good" values are and what I'm looking for that hints at faulty batteries or battery modules. The battery looks good, right? Please help. Any info would be great.
Yes. I know it was rebuilt 2 years ago and driven 20k in that time. Toy had a few maintenance records in 2013 but not much.
The rebuilt title voids all extended warranties. There are some pricey things normally covered like the dash display, brakes and battery. Brad
not much we can tell you with a rebuilt title, it's a total crapshoot. some have had very good luck, and some have been total disasters. one thing though, the price should be outstanding.
Is using Torque to get an idea of battery health not a big thing on this forum? No one has addressed the data. I'm just curious.
It really depends on who has read your post. I'm sure there are a few that can interpret the data for you. My opinion has always been battery replacement rates are low on a Prius. Thus, battery health is not as important as what caused the rebuilt title in terms of reliability.
straw brad is the man, post #6. either he wasn't impressed, or was focused on the title. you could try adding a post to one of the battery rebuild threads, perhaps an expert will advise, but weekends are quiet, so don't expect too much too soon.
Yes, I rebuild batteries in MN. But I do not use Torque. I find the data to be interesting, but have no reference to compare it to. I can say that 2009 batteries are not failing in MN yet. I barely see any 2007's. Has the car been in MN since new? The glacial climate here is easy on batteries. Brad
Well it's irrelevant now as I let the car go. I'm trying to stay clear of salvaged titles. Where in MN are you? Can I get some contact info? I'd like to ask you about cost of battery replacement and rebuilds.
