Rumors going around on MPG results the 2016 Touring with the wide tires. So I will start a thread for just us and see what everyone is getting. Please do a post on driving conditions and PSI in your tires. Mine are always 42 PSI and mixed driving over smooth rolling hills and flat terrain. My lowest is 56-59 MPG on the freeway and a long trip with the AC on and occasional showers. My best is 74-78 MPG on dry roads and an empty car with mixed speeds and road conditions. I would be surprised we do as well as the base model but I think we are closer than previous Touring editions.
Since we can no longer edit the first post I will say use the built in Prius computer display. Keep it simple. Also should have put in 75 MPG//too late now. And maybe posted more numbers in the 56-70 bracket. BTW the best tank driven is not your average of all tanks driven. Average would be lower and probably in the 60's. If you are running 34 PSI then maybe high 50's would be an average. This thread is looking for your best ever tank. Those of you that have never seen a tank in to 70's, are you driving in bad weather, low PSI in your tires, high speeds, jack rabbit driving, AC on constant max fan, or mountainous terrain????
Highway nets 55, 56mpg. City driving varies from 47-60mpg depending on length of trips and terrain during that tank. Local terrain varies from hilly to farmland flat.
I greatly exceed the city/mixed driving data you posted but the HWY one is close if you drive 65 with the AC on. 60MPH is more like 58-59 MPG.
Update Got caught in a down pour and you could see my MPG drop like a rock. So I slowed down and was able to keep it around 56.
On several occasions our 2019 standard Prius, ~ 60kmi total, full load (4 people, luggage), A/C on, Dunlop Enasave 01 tires, E10% gas, late spring & early fall, has delivered 75-78 mpg indicated for several hours at a time while driving in upstate NY and Maine in rolling hills, 55-60mph roads, slowing to 25mph through towns. On coast-to-coast trips it gets low 50's on interstates at 80mph, but this can go up or down 10mpg depending on wind speed and direction which makes one respect wind resistance. Wet roads decrease things about 2mpg. The car often gets ~ 63mpg in mixed driving of around town and freeways to 65-70mpg, though that dropping off rapidly over 65mpg. We experienced a 18% mpg reduction when trying Michelin Defender tires for several weeks and maybe 500mi. We tried a roof top luggage box on it once and mileage dropped into the high 40's at 65mph, and it made a lot of noise - took it off.
