What are some things you should make sure to do when dealing with the dealership on ordering the Prius Prime? What things do you want to include? What options are suggested or preferred? A wish list if you would... I have called 3 different dealerships and expressed an interest in the Prime when more is known. All 3 seem to think it is a was off yet. But then I am in the Midwest. We always seem to be last on new arrivals. Thanks, in advance for replies.
unfortunately, we're mostly in the dark. there will be three levels, but details, pricing and arrival are still unknowns. best you can do for now is keep your ear to priuschat for more info when available.
The best advice here is always to contact the High Priustess better known as Dianne Whitmire here on Prius Chat, she's been awful quiet lately I hope all is OK. She can sell you one before anyone else or give you some ideas.
I am meeting with a sales rep at a Toyota dealership at 1pm on Tues. 9-20-16. Will see what I find out and report here.
I live in the southern west coast and called the dealership where I purchased my Prius C and told them I was interested in the Prime. They seem to express uncertainty on having an idea on when the Prime would available. That they had no shipments for September.
For any Prius, reading the customizations chapter of the owners manual and knowing what you want customized can save you money. The salesman will agree customization should be free. Many dealers, once you own the car will charge you to customize it. There is no Prime owners manual yet.
Well, as expected, they did not know any more than I did. Actually, I told them more about it than they knew. But since this was the 1st time for me at this dealership I wanted to get a feel for the place. So I showed up 40 minutes before my apt and sat in the service waiting area and just observed how the staff treated customers. They were very helpful and professional. I liked the place and plan on giving them my business when Primes come along. I left my wish list of what I want in my Prime and asked to be kept aware of Prime notices. The sales guy asked me to also keep him aware of what I hear. Sounds like production will start on the 30th of this month. So it will be a while yet. This dealership did just get new phamplets in and the prime was shown and described. I took one with me.
that's how i pre ordered my pip. had to teach them all about the car. the first sales person tried to talk me into a sienna, because that's what she drove. i finally got to the sales manager, who handed me off to a guy who had sold a prius once. he had never even heard of the pip. i asked them to contact toyota and get the car and pre order information. they didn't. i had to get toyota to get in touch with them. when the car came in, the salesperson i purchased it from didn't work there anymore. no one knew anything about it, or what to do. everyone wanted the commission, but were afraid to touch it because it took most of the day to do the paperwork. but i hear toyota is doing a nationwide training on prime, so, you should be in good hands.
Yes, he did mention that there would be staff training when the allotments came in. He also mentioned that he has a 2005 Prius and his wife has a 2011 and they both love the car. Nice dealing with a salesperson who understands.
Originally Toyota announced that Prime production would begin on the 30th of this month, but that has been changed. Because of the difficulty of making the carbon fiber hatch, the production will be delayed for a while. I think they want to have enough of the hatches on hand so that once production begins, they won't run out. I am guessing the delay will be a couple of months.
Well the "born on" date of my 2006 is July and I bought in Sept...so we could be talking Nov (fingers crossed for you)..hey you want that tax deduction in 2016...I wish it were possible
I have my. Second orderd in November 27 2016 and it will be here on second week of February......still waiting for my My wife have got one from the Dealer stock in NJ......month ago....we drove all the way from NJ to NE Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I see you are in Lincoln. I am in Nebraska City. Are you dealing with Baxter Toyota there? Never mind. I see from another post that you are. So are you getting the grey one? You may be the 1st person in the state of Nebraska to have a Prime. I was hoping for that honor. Good luck with the process.
I would start off by trying to find the port of entry for the dealer your working with. They have access to what boats from Japan are arriving in which port. They can look at the inventory on the boat, and see which cars are allocated, which are available. The cars are allocated to regions (contain multiple dealers), you could probably pick a car that is allocated to you region. They can also see the vin of each car and get complete details. From that you can pick one and put a down payment. That's how it worked for me, but I'm in the Northeast.
My will be Red... Advance...with all options....my wife have Grey.... Temporary plates from MI.....We are moving to NE.... Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
