Rock Auto car parts question

I need a couple of filters.

RockAuto is by far the cheapest (well, Rock is $4.05, Ebay $5.5xx, and, Amazon $6.xx) Whoopee.

So, I add one filter to my cart, total price is $8xx. including $3.99 postage. (USPS first class).

I make it two filters and price is $14.xx including $5.99 postage. (USPS priority).

This seems very strange to me. Their Web site is mimimalist and I see no real section that talks about multiple part discounts, nor do any discounts show up.

They are legit, right?

 

Dealer MSRP for an actual, blessed with water from the apes on Mt. Fujiyama is $19. Online from the usual suspects the actual blessed part is $12 to $14 for a single filter. Savings is while not life-saving is also enough for a couple of Mazama IPAs.

I still don't understand the shrinking price, but as long as they stick to their price when I hit buy in the shopping cart, I am O.K.

I don't need the filters today. I just replaced a couple yesterday and I like to have spares on hand.

Also, I am next to broke -- oh, quit acting so surprised -- and will wait until next weekend when my credit card enters a new billing cycle to order.

As long as they get here before Thanksgiving, I will be O.K. In fact, maybe I will wait until Nov. 15.

The plus is that delivery is by Postal Service. The various parcel companies (UPS, FedEx) really hate driving to my place....something about my 500-yard rock and mud driveway steep driveway with three hairpin curves that ends with a snarling she-bitch -- and then I let the dog out.

 

Took back some bottles and cans for the five-cent deposit and was feeling rich, so just ordered my filters from RockAuto.

They shipped immediately. Should be here by the end of the week! Even with shipping (no sales tax in Oregon), the price was significantly better than I could have gotten locally.

I have had the filters before and they are a direct and perfect fit, unlike some other brands (STP in particular). I have also used TYC headlights and they were a very quality product (mechanic asked where I got them, he said he wanted to offer them as a lower cost alternative to customers).

I know, some of you are really into Toyota only filters.

Or Cabin filters with carbon or -- even better -- finely ground diamond fibers to cut up and kill dust before it gets into the car.

Hey, they are cabin filters. The filter media is great. I am not too concerned with filtering everything out of the air. Even in the winter, my windows are almost always open.

I have usually done better on price on EBay, but this time around EBay was significantly more expensive.

The 800005P is the filter that fits my Prius (2008).

 

In the "old days," before I spent a day modifying the Prius and blocking off all mice entrances, I was replacing this filter every couple of months.

There is still a time or two that mice seem to get in. I don't know how, but they find a way, but nowhere like it used to be. Washing a "mice filter" was not an option.

And considering I can get the darn thing for $3 plus a couple of $$ for shipping, still not on my to-do list, but then I tend to be the lazy sort -- oh, wait, I do run marathons....remember the Utah race that NONE of you PC people would join me on....
