Some initial thoughts/questions - - very peppy! much more so than my current Prius - I had read that the new Prius is an inch lower than my current model, so was worried that it would feel like you're sitting too low. But it didn't feel that way at all, and egress is easy - white console - yuck! now I understand why people are paying a lot for an accessory to cover it up - this is a NEW animal - staff are not very experienced or educated, and no brochures available - is $248 for floor mats & rear cargo cover really worth that much more than the much cheaper floor mat options available? - pushing crystal fusion on the windshield. Don't know anything about this. - I want to get tinted windows as well as a 5 inch strip at the top of the windshield. I was told I'd need a doctor's note to get that 5 inch strip. Really?! - 6-8 month wait - this is going to be unbearable. - need to investigate the specifics of a tax credit; they quoted $4500 for a federal credit but also said that was 2016 - and who knows about 2017
I learned everything here faster than if I go to the dealer. Hopefully I can get one soon. Here in Miami you can get the 5 inch strip at the top of the windshield in any car without any doctor note. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I had that applied without my approval at a repair shop once. It worked okay for a while, but as it wore off, it was annoying. spots remained all over the windshield. couldn't scrape them off, just had to wait for it to wear. Rain-X works better even though you have to re-apply it.
I was told that it came with additional applications that you could add every 6 months. Think there are other options I'd rather spend my money on.
Crystal Fusion is nothing but Rain-X at a really, really profitable markup for the dealer. If your dealer tries to sell it to you demand to read the application and warranty material BEFORE you agree to buy it. The warranty is useless, you must reapply every couple of months and when you run out you have to buy another bottle. Save your money.
Credit will be in effect for quite some time. Expires at 250,000 plug-in vehicles sold and Toyota is at about 40,000.
