Hello friends, I am new here and in need of some advice. For the past 3 years I have been very interested in the 2010 to 2015 model of Prius. I have done my research, have test driven some, and am pretty set on purchasing one soon since I commute to my university. I am fond of one from a small dealership near me and have test driven it. The car seems fine and I was wondering if I should take it to a mechanic for an inspection? The dealer has a 2011 coming in that is pretty similar to the 2010, but $800 more. Both cars have had two owners and the 2010 was owned by a company. Both cars have around 110k miles, and the 2010 is $9,500. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.
6 of one, but I'd probably say go with the 2011 as 2010 was first model year, 2011 had the bugs out. If you're not in a CARB state the 100000 miles is up on the warranty.
Cool thanks for the reply. The 2011 seems like a good idea to me too and the price difference is not too much. I was mainly worried about how many miles a year the 2011 had, but it seems to not be that bad since I live in Southern California. Thanks again.
I'd also go with the 2011 based on the report that the 2010 was owned by a company. Seems a number of people treat company cars worse than ones they own themselves.
Oops one proviso I forgot to mention, that 150000 mile CARB warranty extension depends on if the original owner purchased and registered in CA or other CARB state. But I do not think that should be a big deciding point as most Prii seems to go well over 150k miles without big issues. This is why it helps us if we know what state you are in in your profile when you pose questions for the group.
