Removing PVC valve and cracked the engine block in about 0.01 inch indent. No luck uploading the pic help Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Here's another pic, going to put back together let me let me know what my Jeopardy is. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Professional assessment and maybe some welding? Or maybe something like JB Weld will be deemed sufficient? How'd it happen? You were levering hose off?
Luckily the broken part is just valve cover. Also called cylinder head cover. To remove it all you need to do is remove the cowl (which should be removed just to replace pcv-valve), ignition coils, and couple of bolts. Then you can either get used one from another Prius, or weld or solder the cover back together. When putting it back together use new gasket. Even on quick search I could find used valve cover on 50 dollars in US so probably that’s the way to go. You can also get the new gasket at the same time.
That was my impression as well but I appreciate the reaffirming words. Just a fat open-end wrench trying to loosen PVC valve for replacement. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I couldn't picture where it was, and the term "engine block" sounded ominous. At valve cover. I think you could roughen and clean thoroughly (even without removal), then apply a 2 part epoxy, JB weld or similar, liberally past the crack zone.
