Hi guys, We just tried to order the prius prime premium, however, we were just told that they have stopped ordering them for the southeastern part of the U.S. Does anyone know why? We ended up having to order a car from a dealer in Texas.
Seems to be a nationwide problem other than so Cal, there's another thread on here with same discussion. Check there. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Both Southeast, and Gulf States are independent distributors, independent of Toyota USA. Toyota has no way to force them to order cars. You can order cars out of area.
I was told by my local Toyota dealer that I bought my Prime from that they couldn't order from the Southeast Toyota Division and had to order from Toyota directly. They also said they can only do that a certain number of times a year and had no clue when they will be able to get another one. I feel special to actually get one in this area. I personally haven't seen another Prime on the road yet! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Is it a case of they can't order it because Toyota is playing games to allocate cars to CAFE credit states so the dealer won't order because they have known they can't get cars? Risk to ordering a car when the dealer/distributor isn't selling re the parts pipeline? I have bought outside of the SET distributor's area at Carmax Laurel very successfully both in terms of price paid and local service. But that was a car the local dealer was also trying to sell me at the same time.
I complained to Toyota by email several days back. Got a reply, responded to that reply, and got another reply. Basically, they said just wait. Then today I got a survey from them asking about the process I had gone through. I was not very nice with my suggestions. Asked why Toyota made it so difficult to buy a car.
dealers are all lying. they didn't buy in when they had the opportunity, now, they are shut out until the smart dealers don't need as many. fly to rhode island, buy one and drive back.
I noticed on Toyota's website that if you try to build a Toyota Prius Prime on their website and put in a zip code from the southeast that you will always get a window pop up saying that you can't go any further on your car build because of heavy communication traffic on their website. That is hard to believe that it is all the time, especially like at 3 or 4 am in the southeast region. I can put a zip code from another region and you can build a Prius Prime without a problem with my experience. Go figure. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I can build any other Toyota without a problem using a southeast zip code, but not the Prius Prime. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Where are you or where is Hampton? Va.? If so that's Mid-Atlantic and yeah the Va dealers didn't order the Prime but Md dealers did. A lot closer than Texas and maybe off the lot. Else Southeast Toyota sucks....Oh well
We are in Hampton, Ga. We were told that since Ga is not a green state that we would have to order a car. I didn't think that would mean ordering from another state.
Should be able to order through your local dealer. I have no clue how long the wait would be. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
