JimboPalmer said: For any Prius, reading the customizations chapter of the owners manual and knowing what you want customized can save you money. The salesman will agree customization should be free. Many dealers, once you own the car will charge you to customize it. There is no Prime owners manual yet. JimboPalmer, Sep 20, 2016 -------------------------------- JimboPalmer suggested to request customization by dealer at time of purchase. After reading the manual, I want to customize these functions: 1. Reverse warning buzzer (p333). Change to Single buzz. 2. Unlock button on remote control. Change so "Press and hold open the side windows." 3. Mechanical key (p690). Turn and hold locks all windows or open all windows. Other suggestions?
The unlock and mechanical key functions you can do yourself. Found out by searching this in the search bar. Reverse can be done at the dealer for free (at least they did it for me). Others have had it done with their Caristas.
I had requested the reverse beep customization explicitly in an email to my salesman two days prior to taking delivery of the car. It still wasn't done. I received a letter a few days later from the customer service manager saying he'd be happy to help with anything I might need, so I called him up and it got done when I picked up the license plates. It wasted over an hour of my time that would have been saved if it got done when I asked initially, but at least they didn't charge me for the change. I had a copy of the owners manual page with exactly what I wanted when I brought it back, too, because the salesman had said that they couldn't figure out what I was requesting from the email. Really.
someone in another thread wants to know if there's a feature that locks the door, if you just walk away from the car.
I may have misunderstood original question. I was answering it under the assumption that you wanted to try to customized key fob functions. As to the specifics, I am limited in advice. I read the manual and searched in Priuschat for options. I didn't look for an option for all windows to roll down. Sorry about that.
This is my list: Signal (buzzer) when the shift position is in R - Single Times of flashing of the lane change signal flashers - 5 Vehicle speed linked seat belt reminder buzzer - Off That last one is about the times I'm driving the car for just a few hundred feet, usually at work where I'm the only one around, and I'm either wearing a climbing harness or some other protective equipment and don't have the capability to put on the seat belt and I don't want the annoying beeper going off. I always, always, always wear my seat belt on the road.
At least on mine, that speed is about 4mph, I think. That's awfully slow. When I'm doing this, I'm usually at about 15mph.
With the Prime: *4: Driver’s seat belt warning buzzer: The driver’s seat belt warning buzzer sounds to alert the driver that his or her seat belt is not fastened. Once the power switch is turned to ON mode, the buzzer sounds for 6 seconds. If the vehicle reaches a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h), the buzzer sounds once. If the seat belt is still unfastened after 24 seconds, the buzzer will sound intermittently for 6 seconds. Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a different tone for 90 more seconds. *5: Front passenger’s seat belt warning buzzer: The front passenger’s seat belt warning buzzer sounds to alert the front passenger that his or her seat belt is not fastened. The buzzer sounds once if the vehicle reaches a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h). If the seat belt is still unfastened after 24 seconds, the buzzer will sound intermittently for 6 seconds. Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a different tone for 90 more seconds. Page 658. *6: Rear passengers’ seat belt warning buzzer: The rear passengers’ seat belt warning buzzer sounds to alert the rear passengers that his or her seat belt is not fastened. The buzzer sounds intermittently for 6 seconds after the vehicle reaches a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h). Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a different tone for 24 more seconds. Maybe you can live with it
My question with Gen 4 is why does it always show rear seat belt warning lights (3 of them) even if there is nothing on the seats?
