I don't know if this normal for Prius or not. Recently notices that sometime when the car is on idling and park the engine kick in and then shut off and car jerk forward a little. kind of felt like you parked down hill and you release the brake. Anyone have this issue?
My 05 does it. It's the worst part of the car because I often wait in traffic in a parking lot for a while and it jerks forward even when my foot is on the brake. When the battery gets low, I press hard on the brakes. It's not a problem where I feels like spending money to fix.
Mine sometimes shudders a bit, but never lurches. If it causes you anxiety, get the dealer's tech guy to have a look at it. If he can see for himself what actually happens, he should be able to rectify any fault, or confirm it as being fairly normal. If you're still not happy you could contact Toyota USA Customer Service.
@RCO is correct. It shudders, but the wheels don't move and the shudder isn't nearly as aggressive in the 4th gen.
So the transition from ICE on to ICE off is much less noticeable when compared to previous generations?
It's much less noticeable than gen 2. I haven't driven the gen 3 enough to know. It's one of the best engine auto stop-starts in any car.
