After talking with a couple of dealers here in Central FL it appears that Southeastern Toyota (Distributor for 5 state area) will not be bringing the Prime to our area. The dealers have not even had any service techs trained to service Primes yet. Anybody know any more details on this? I know I could go out of State and buy, but am apprehensive if my local dealers cannot provide service.
Perhaps @bwilson4web can help. He bought his Prime to use in Alabama. I think that is the same region. Southeast Toyota Sales is one of the privately held US distributors. They likely have more freedom choosing what they sell and service. Jim Moran (automotive) - Wikipedia
I searched around a little while using Google and found that Toyota of South Florida in Doral lists one. I am having a problem with the link going to the proper webpage that displays when I found it in Google so here is a screen image.
If it is a Toyota dealership they should have to work on their own product. Keep at it. Demand has a funny way of changing minds.
Lots of folks go to Maryland...I mean it was the same with PiP and bottom line there is not usually much service need for the electronic parts. At least Prime is supposed to be 50 states whereas PiP was only 15 states. Maybe wait to see if any bugs.
already one owner who's prime won't run ev only with cold battery. won't be an issue in florida though.
I live in Sarasota FL, my most cost effective option was to travel to Washington DC to pick up my Premium. Just drove it home yesterday! 1000 miles in 24 hours
There were a few available in Dec/Jan. The closest dealership that had an advance was Fort Walton. Until as of 4 weeks ago. Al Hendrickson Toyota (across the street from JM Lexus) has a base model Blizzard Pearl. I got tired of waiting for an Advance so I went with a 4T. No point in getting a Prime if I can't get it the way I wanted. As of 2 weeks ago the nearest Prime Advance was in Georgia. 2016 Prius 4T Premium Convenience Pkg 2016 NX200t F Sport
In South Florida Earl Steward Toyota has a White Prime Plus, they gave me a price for it but at only 25 miles EV and the back seat Arm Rest/middle seat cushion being flat on the seat I am going to wait until those things are corrected. Also seen the 2018 Toyota HR-C they have all the colors but again I have pause that 2.0 engine gas mileage instead of the 1.2 liter Hybrid engine which would have a better gas mileage gave me pause on pulling that purchase trigger.
The 1.2 litre in the CH-R is a turbocharged gasoline engine. The CH-R hybrid uses the same system as the Prius and Prius Prime.
I live in South Carolina, also SE Toyota. According to my dealer, you can get the prime here, but only by special order, they wont be carrying any. I have a Prime Advanced on order, but it's not in yet. Supposed to be built this month, so maybe next month it'll get here. I had to put $1000 down to order it, and I may have to pay for it even if I don't like it, but there's little chance of that. I'm a current 2010 Prius owner, so I don't think there will be a problem, it can only be better than what i have.
Luckily I didn't have to order mine because my local dealer ordered one and received it December 2nd. I heard they had it that day. Went the next day to test drive it and bought it from them that day. Who knows when they will have one on their lot again. They notified me that they could order one for a customer that is interested in buying one. It is sad they can't get them any easier. #1 in Easley,SC
