So my 2008 Black Prius needs both front and rear bumper covers replaced. I am looking into getting a used one in descent condition, so I found one front cover in the same color but is from 2007 model. Question is would any bumper cover from generation 2 fit my 2008 model? Or do I have to find a 2008 model bumper only.
I don't think there's any difference in the bumpers from 2004-2009. You would want to get extra clips/screws from the used donor car, just in case you need them when you reinstall.
Did you replace your bumper covers? How easy and quick was it? Mine have scuffs and scratches - I'm wondering whether it's almost as easy to replace them as to repair them, especially as my garage doesn't have enough room for the car so I don't have a clean environment to respray them after filling the dents etc. The part price seems not too expensive.
just to let you know they sell the front bumper covers painted to your color and shipped to your door for $200 on Amazon
I'd be inclined to remove them, fill/sand any dents myself, then take to a body shop for pro repaint. There's probably no monetary advantage, but it just seems better for the environment. At the least, you know you have the right bumper, and no surprises. For tears I've used this: Bumper Repair Kit | Canadian Tire Guess it's a Canadian product, but I'm sure there's something similar in the 'States.
Thanks but if you look in my profile you'll see that i live in the uk. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Thanks for your help. Any thoughts or experience of repairing or painting scratched Gen 2 plastic alloy wheel covers? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
This video seems interesting. I found the underlying theme was to do just what's needed, where needed.
Excellent, Thanks! This is exactly what I needed to know. Thanks So much. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
