I'm have a parts car that will be nothing but a shell.. was thinking about rwd LSX motor. I really just want to know if anyone had done rwd swaps and did you back half the unibody or just stiffen the rear? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
LSX 454 Crate Engine - Race Engine | Chevrolet "INSTALLATION NOTES • Assembly does not include any electronics • Intended for pre-1976 street vehicles or any off-road vehicle • Not intended for marine applications • Requires LSX Ignition Controller (P/N 19171130) when using a carburetor • Requires the purchase and installation of an oil pan (dust shield installed for shipment) • LSX eight-bolt crank flange • Requires premium fuel" Since it will never be street legal, this simplifies construction a lot since it only has to roll off the trailer at shows. It will need all new front and rear suspension, but again it is unlikely to go faster than walking speed, so they do not need to be sophisticated. With the weight of the engine, perhaps the front will be solid. Be aware that with only a 10 gallon tank, even idling will run out of gas soon. 25" Long 31" Wide and at least 25" Tall. Very little of that will fit in a Prius engine bay. I suspect you will need to fabricate a new firewall. It will be a bargain at $13,000, I am sure. For about $9000 less, you could built this FRSport.com: Blitz Supercharger Scion xB 1NZ-FE Just use the Otto cycle version of the Prius engine.
You're not the first. https://facebook.com/LSXPrius/ Bisco; that's hilarious but if you genuinely don't know, it's swapping your stock (fwd/4wd) drivetrain for a rear wheel drive one (RWD). iPhone ?

Good luck. I for one am an old guy and old guys tend to become more cynical with each passing year. Maybe we're wrong and you will succeed, we all hope you do. It's just that our experience tells us it's gonna be mighty tough to get this job done. And I Really meant it when I wished you luck.
same here. if you were getting paid to do it, i wouldn't bet against you. that being said, i never thought anyone could put a firebird body on a prius chassis, and look how far that project has come in 40 years.
Although @Bill the Engineer might feel it has taken 40 years, it has not been that long! The thread started in August 2014. The Hybrid Convertible Project Prius v | PriusChat
at least bill is doing it. we get a lot of people saying they're gonna do this or that, then fade into obscurity. 'hey all! has anyone ever filled the whole cabin with batteries? i want to make my 2005 go 200 miles in ev'.
