Button needs to be out. From other threads that I read on this issue... 1. Try other CR2032 batteries. Possible bad batteries due to sitting long in the store. 2. Possible bad 12v auxiliary battery. 3. Other fob is within distance of the first one
Okay I will try all of this. If this doesn't work I will being my search on how to reprogram the original key fob.
Edit Does the keyfob lock and unlock buttons work? Any of the keys? To fix this issue, you would need to reseed the car's key memory. A dealer can do it In the meantime, you can make a regular key copy of the little key at home depot, make it a regular key like the cars from 15 years ago SM-N900P ?
No. Both keys only start the car once inserted. Nothing else. I wonder why you can program a new keys but you can't reprogram an old key. That seems odd to me. I guess I have to look for a stealership.
I have an old fob that was reprogrammed by the dealer. So it can be done, but it only works if I plug it into the slot. As for the metal door key, @JC91006 is right. Practically any place that makes keys can make you one.
You can't program a new key unless you have fully working old key (to use the Chicken Dance). This is why you need to go the dealer (or a skilled auto locksmith) to reseed the immobiliser then add the old key(s) to the car.
I don't know if this is crucial, but what color is the Toyota logo on each of your fobs? Black (non-SKS) or silver (SKS)?
His locks and unlock buttons both don't work. There have been reports of some keys just not functioning. A working spare would normally fix this problem, doing the chicken dance with the non working fob. But right now we have both fobs not working. Either a battery issue or they'll need to be reseed SM-N900P ?
If the old keys were originally programmed to the car but somehow got cleared out of the car's memory, they should be able to be added back in with techstream without reseeding, since the ID programmed in the key would match the car. I have the scanner if you want to play with it. Also, to pair with Bluetooth, you have to place the radio in pairing mode, somewhere in settings, using the touch screen. I have investigated getting an AUX adapter but there are not a lot that work with Prius. I believe one that says it works is GROM. iPhone ?
The aux adapter for 2nd gen Prius is inside the center console, so if this is your first Prius, you may have one and not know it. I'd lift the lid of the console and check just in case.
How would I use it? Do you live near me or is it software? I pushed the add phone on the screen and turned bluetooth on my phone on but it never received the code that the stereo was sending out. Not sure. Galaxy s6
I live in PA so it would be kind of a hike but not as far away as some of us here on the forum. Techstream is a combination of software and hardware. If you pushed the Add Phone button on the car, and it said discoverable or something similar, then you must also go into Bluetooth settings on the phone and scan for devices and add it there. Default name is "HANDS FREE". On my 04 with Bluetooth, it works for phone calls only, not music FYI. iPhone ?
These should help get you a dry prius : Water leak...into spare tire area etc | Page 3 | PriusChat https://attachments.priuschat.com/attachment-files/2016/01/99777_Gen_2_Prius_Water_Leak.pdf
