If I recall correctly, they had to park the car at an angle and of course refuel up the pipe. Again, it seems implausible to gain 15 extra litres that way but what we read.
G'day, Just to add to a >10 year old thread , 15 Litres - that's another ~3 gallons by either measure, if the bag was already 'full'! Where would it fit? How extensible is the bag (I'm imagining a balloon?) and how much piping is there between the filler-cap and bag? Just more weight for the engines to lug around. An incredulous David S.
And my memory is matching your's. Now if I could just re-find the photo of a Japanese hypermiler actually doing it ....
Note that only North American spec cars had the rubber bladder. The rest of the world didn't, so their tanks aren't as variable in size.
Found it... well found them. 1372mile/tank achieved | PriusChat New World Record - 1619 miles per tank | PriusChat 1,562 miles, New World Record with a single tank | PriusChat
I'm now betting that said photo was attached to Post #14 of this very thread, but was lost in some of the website makeovers. Will look elsewhere. ------------- Here it is, in Ken1784's photo gallery:
It's full service in Japan, right? Imagine pulling up and telling the person to fill up but wait until you jack up the rear left part of the car lol.
