There is a little stub welded on to the right underside of the rear axle beam. Connected to this stub, with a small bolt, are a couple 2 inch bars that swivel on each other. This is all connected to a plug with a wire that goes up between the muffler and gas tank. It appears to be some sort of sensor. The stub broke, from rust, and the bars connected to it are hanging down. It doesn't seem to be causing any problem. I think I can fix it, but I don't know what it is. Can someone tell me what this is and what it is for. thanks. It's on a 2012 Prius v 5 door hatchback.
Sounds like a description of a load sensor for the brakes. The system adjusts brake pressure based on suspension loading.
Do you have LED headlight? Our Canadian touring has LED, and also this levelling device, I believe since the LED's are quite bright, with sharp cut off. I occasionally shoot a little silicon spray into the elbows and ensure they're moving freely.
