ICE On in EV Mode!

    No road trips for you, eh?

    That would be pretty much the case for me except a road trip to Houston (~500 miles to, at, and back) and another to Pedernales Falls State Park (108 miles).

    not if it records it as ev, because the engine is only warming up, and not providing motive power.

    if you are referring to the ECO Dashboard and it's record of EV miles, well then if the ICE kicks in your EV miles would be zero at that point hence the car is not going anywhere, just warming up:D

    Toyota leaves it WIDE open why the ICE might come on in EV mode ... manual pg87 ...

    OK, that's good.

    However, what was curious in this case was that all of the dashboard indicators I could see concurred that it was in EV mode (i.e. It did not cancel EV mode), but the drive-system monitor still showed a red energy-flow arrow out of the engine.
