So, my wife doesn't understand that hubcaps, wheel covers, OR alloy wheels are NOT for sound parking against the curb. My plastic wheel covers on my 2017 Prius that is barely a month old, are now scraped up indelibly. Do I... 1) drop $200 on two new OEM covers? 2) spray paint the wheel covers and if so, how do I make them look factory or custom and not high "school parking lot"? 3) what do you think of using truck bedliner on the the wheel covers and going matte/pebbly plasticote black on the wheel covers of a Blizzard Pearl Prius? Leaving it alone and "rocking the scratches" is NOT an option. only showroom quality repair/replace will do.
True. I think somebody else in the forums have suggested teaching her how to parallel park. This is one of the big reasons why I don't let anybody else drive my car. And for damned sure not let the car park itself, even if it had that feature.
The color match may be an issue. I have seen special two or three part paint kits for hubcaps to get that metallic OEM look. A dust free paint booth/ zone is also advisable. If replaced, how long to the caps are damaged again? One hour? So, perhaps find a different cap color you like, bondo the damage and paint all four hub caps to match. Then when damaged again it could be a simple fix. That would be the most inexpensive, else purchase aftermarket hubcaps or OEM hubcaps every month perhaps. As an option...remember those aftermarket wire curb feelers...haha. Good luck with your project.
