Re general maintenance on Prius v wagon ...has anyone done a video on cleaning the cooling fan squirrel cage above battery? I'm have a problem taking apart the trim and covers to get it out of it's nook. The seat and trim are different than our regular G3 Prius
Under normal conditions it doesn't do enough to warrant that type maintenance. Usually runs at pretty low speed.
FWIW I just vacuumed the small screen beneath the rear right side passenger seat this morning. I don't carry pets so there was little to barely noticeable blockage. We've had the car just over a year.
I recently watched a UTube video about this very subject. Don't recall the title, but search on Prius V battery fan should get you there. I was quite good. They guy showed everything, including access to 2 clips UNDER the fan.
Just a thought: it might be possible, and easier, to clean it without complete removal. Ours is 2010, so different though. If you've never cleaned, I'd be inclined to get to it at least once, regardless of how clean it might be, just for peace of mind.
I would say, a correct fitting brush and a good vacuum should do the trick. Even on my 2005 it was quite a job to remove the fan, there was also some ducting in there as well.
