I currently own a 2007 Prius and it has been a great car. It has 190k miles and climbing on it. I'm looking at a 2013 Level 3 Prius. What are the main differences between the Gen 2 and Gen 3? Anything to look out for on the 2013? I have looked at NADA for values but any idea of what the prices are going for from an individual? Thanks, Glenn
nah, everything's great on the 2013's. you get much better feed back, specifically the hsi, hybrid system indicator. it tells you when you're in eco, ev and hv and power. much easier to keep the engine off, there's a line it crosses, showing when the ice will fire. you get ev and hv buttons, eco, normal and power buttons, the flying bridge (love it or hate it) height adjustable seat, just all around a better car. it is a bit more difficult to get a true glide, and there are less storage area's.
Thanks. I'm going to look at it later today. Only saw the outside so far. Looks like a clean car. Glenn
I just bought a 2012 Prius 2 for my daughter from a local guy. 37000 miles, car is literally new inside and out. Brand new Michelin Energy tires, new wipers, just serviced at the dealer where it was purchased (and has been serviced since day 1), new 12 Volt battery 3 months ago from the dealer ($275 according to the seller) also has a backup camera. I paid right around $9K for this. I think I stole it. Very pleased so far.
The only thing that throws off Gen 2 owners from Gen 3 is the center console. Some say it sits too high and too wide. Maybe why they redesigned it in the Prius V and the new Gen 4. If you like to DIY oil changes, they also added a horribly difficult plastic flap, held by plastic rivets, that you have to unfasten and fold out of the way to access the drain plug. The rivets break off, and after enough accesses, the flap breaks off too. Also fixed in Gen 4!
