I still suggest you have it done, especially with those plugs being that bad. There's probably lots of carbon build up and if the mechanic suggested Seafoam, a fuel system treatment will do a better job and quicker. And I think that will take care of the pinging. Speaking of SeaFoam, I was in Autozone yesterday and noticed that the price has gone up to almost $11 a can. Pretty expensive for a mixture of white gas, alcohol and kero. And yet people still buy it. Maybe this is some kind of marketing social experiment to see if there is a limit to what people will pay for snake oil.

The "ignore" user feature of Prius Chat can be your friend. I use BG Products EPR yesterday and added some MOA. I have seen the benefits and so have others. I will continue to use it as part of a preventative maintenance routine every oil change. Remember: ignore can be bliss.
I was using the phone app and couldn't find it. I just logged in thru the site and there it was. All is peaceful again. Actually since the Seafoam here was on sale buy one get one, I bought 6 and was going to use those at oil chsnges. I know when Toyota did the fuel system service (similar to BG, except they unhook fuel line from gas tank instead of pouring it in) my mpg has gone up 4mpg or so. I also went from E0 87 BP to E0 89 BP ( 44 cents cheaper than 87). Last fillup was 47.6 mpg. I want to see 50. Driving Uber/Lyft is a challenge as my routes are never the same. I think when it gets cooler I can get 50.
You have "proved" something that I didn't say. What I said was: A little bit of carbon on the pistons or a little bit of fuel stain inside the manifold or a bit of sludge in the sump DOES NOT CAUSE A PROBLEM AND DOES NOT NEED TO BE "FIXED". All of that smoke coming out is the SeaFoam itself burning but not igniting fully. It is gullible people like you that enables them to charge $11 a can.......for a product that probably costs them about $2 to produce. Ignorance is bliss. I am glad that you are happy.
Then again, the fuel system cleaner they did is recommended every 30,000 miles (I had 40k but bought it with 36k) so I may bypass Seafoam altogether. Using the BP E0 89 should really help out. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
50 mpg in a v wagon would be something to see. E0 gives you the best shot. How many miles on your v? One device that can help improve mpg is something I beta tested for @Pedal Logic that filters the electronic signal from the accelerator pedal. It gave me a 4 mpg bump. Might be worth PMing Marc if you want to see 50 mpg. He might even be able to tell you how it performs on a v, given he has one in his Prii stable.
Just 41k now. 2013 1 owner from Atlanta area. Got it thru Carmax, awesome car. Probably the first I bought that I didn't want to change speakers, wheels or anything. I know Marc was in the commercial end when he brought the beta testing opportunity to Prius Chat (has had logged millions of miles on buses and fleet vehicles). I was chatting with him yesterday at our Bay Area meet up with his Business partner Attila and they were doing a "Kick Starter" campaign. I believe Marc said he is staying out of the private owner Arena, but not sure. You might be able to convince him otherwise. He gave me a new PCB at the meetup, and we'll probably get together and I'll give him the pattern for the RX450h so he can work on development there. PM Marc and let him know where you're at and you might be able to work something out.
