This evening on the way home from grocery shopping, a deer jumped in front of my Prius C and slid over the front windshield. The deer ran off into the forest, so don't know if it was injured. Luckily, neither my wife or I were injured, and surprisingly, my Prius C did not appear to sustain significant damage. The only damage I can see is that the driver side A-Pillar is bent. The driver door still closes okay, and the windshield is not broken. I will get an estimate before I call my insurance company to make a claim. What a bummer, I really love my Prius C. Hopefully a body shop can fix it up for me.
Bodyshop will be able to fix that. But it's not an easy spot to fix, so be prepared to call your insurance company depending on what your deductible is.
In New York State our deer are required to carry basic collision insurance but often they are involved in hit and runs.
It ends up in Virginia, then North Carolina, then a Prius c collision. Oh, you mean the northern border? I don't know.
They are allowed to cross the border but if they get into an accident without proper insurance they are subject to additional criminal penalties for committing a crime across state lines...... were talking big Buck fines ....pun intended.
That's a solid dent. The dentless repair option...may not be an option for you (too bad) you should ask though. Also without seeing in person the windshield may have to be removed for a perfect repair (that will add a good bit more expense) and door seal removal. Sure "slide hammer" "welded pins" techniques can be used and I bet just painting and blending on that A pillar will be okay (eg no paint blending to roof, fender or door) . Not knowing how perfect the rest of your Prius is.....I wish you luck.
I would say my 2012 Prius C is nearly perfect condition. The body shop can fix the dent, I took it to my local Toyota dealer. Let's see,,,here is what they will do, Remove the door, Remove the door seals, Remove the windshield, Remove the inside trim to expose the A pillar, (Somehow) Remove the dent, Repaint the Pillar Install new door seals, pillar trim, door and windshield. Total estimate is just a tad over $1100, and will take 3-4 days. Not so bad, insurance covers it and my car rental. I will take it in next Monday...
