No way gas will be $1.00 a gallon (IMHO of course), even without OPEC meddling or more disasters, our oil companies wont allow it, but anyway, you're forgetting Irma. We also still have almost 3 months of hurricane season and global warming making the stronger storms stronger.
Note, oil producing state here . . . . We were at $1.87 before the storm and we were at $2.20 yesterday. Today, it's gone down to $2.16. Dallas had a lot of shortages from certain local fuel distributors, but not all. They got some gas from us. The shortages did reach up I-35 to Marietta, OK but came no further north.
Saw on TV tonight that gas was $5.98 in Orlando so I guess price hiking is starting to take place with Irma coming along.
Must not have lasted long. The highest on Gas Buddy at the moment is just $3.29, followed by $2.99. Orlando Gas Prices - Find Cheap Gas Prices in Florida
Probably a rogue, who promptly got reported. They are getting increasingly stern about people here who do that. Just checked again. Still showing $3.29/gal as the highest in Orlando. I can't figure how to get it to show highest in Tampa.
Go to Tampa Gas Prices and look in the second section of prices towards the bottom. Cheapest at the top section and highest in the second section.
Once you are in a locality gas price site, it seems the search there won't zoom out to include a larger area.
there's a guy outside disney world who has been 6 bucks since 2004. and i have seen people filling up.
That's about same as here, and national average price...and you and me have reformulated gasoline which adds 20-30 cents, so we are not too bad under the circumstances. But it's not your grandfather's NJ with super low gaso taxes anymore. Mark- if you consider OK is 20-30 cents cheaper "conventional" gasoline vs. RFG that many if us use, that price is about right.
CNN mentioned lots of stations being out of fuel, including Miami. Miami Gas Prices - Find Cheap Gas Prices in Florida shows plenty of stations over $3, topping at $3.67 right now. But plenty more still in the $2.50-ish range too.
Yeah, the prices I quoted are for E-10. Add 25 - 30 cents for E-0 (100%) My B & sister-in-law are in Fort Lauderdale. They're @ 8ft ASL and rode out hurricane Andrew. Cinder block house, steel roll down shutters, etc. House is built to a very different extreme wind code and on a hill. They're staying this time as well. Not sure I agree, but . . . .
i wish them all the best. no doubt a lot of people are staying, i can't imagine getting many out, unless they started a week ago. and where to go? also a problem for many.
So this morning, I took the dogs to the dog park and then drove to Decatur to eat lunch at a Southern cafe (i.e., roast pork, English peas, pinto beans, corn bread, and beverage Arnold Palmer.) We drove back to downtown and the fast DC charger, $0.50 parking to bring the SOC up to 89.5%. From there, we went to Whole Foods where I got a nice Belgium and topped the charge to 99% and brought lunch home for my wife. Arriving with 95%, the 5% will add about $0.10 to our electric bill. Total EV cost, $0.60 for 77 miles ... not bad. We're seeing a lot of gas station signs at $2.49 but the average tank for our friends and neighbors means it won't be until the middle of next week when we'll see the 'out of gas' stations. Thank you. I worry, and my wife is very worried about her sis. They could get to the FL panhandle and be OK, but you don't know if you can get back or when. I'm sure they've thought it through, I hope.
my dad's in bonita springs. they're supposed to truck them up to tampa if it's cat4 or higher. can't imagine what 75 will be like by that time.
That's a big worry for you, especially at a distance. At least they're potentially on the "good" side of the wind. I hope he fairs well.
