Found a used Prius Four with about 50,000 miles for about $13,500. Single owner, Toyota Certified, new tires balanced and aligned. The price is about the most I want to spend, and it seems like a pretty good deal, but I've read that it's not good for a Prius to sit a lot, and it sounds like this one probably did if it was only driven ~8,000 miles per year. If I bought it, it would be driven a few days a week in the DC area. Also looking at a Toyota Certified 2015 Corolla LE for a few hundred more and am wondering if that might be a safer bet. It appears to be in great condition, but are there any additional issues/concerns I should be aware of?
The actual mileage driven is 10,000 per year which is excellent. If service records are good you have an EXCELLENT deal, especially given the level Four model and Toyota certification. If you even think about this someone else will grab it. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I have a 2012 Prius 4 with nav. It's at 140k miles, so far so good. No tsb or any major recalls done. Only had to do the air bag curtain recall like everyone else. No oil burning, no issues so far. All maintenance done so far are on our YouTube channel.
welcome! the corolla will always be less risk, but on the whole, the prius should be good for quite awhile. how many years/miles do you plan to keep her? not sure if dc is carb. if so, the hybrid warranty is 10/150. if not, 8/100.
no question. personally, i would buy the prius, but don't keep them that long, so, a different point of view.
Good to know. Going to do my best to get it but won't be able to make it to the dealership til next weekend. May not last til then. Sorry, kinda new around here and am not sure what "carb" means. But I don't anticipate putting more than 12-15K per year on it, and I'd probably try to hang on to it for at least 10 years as long as it didn't have major issues.
CARB states listed here. Ideally, you would live in Maryland and buy a Prius that was registered there. That would give you an extended traction battery warranty of 10/150k. Otherwise, you'll have a warranty of 8/100k.
