I'm looking to add a decent horn to my 2009 Gen II, I think I'll leave the existing wimpy horn as it is to be used only when I don't want to give any poor unsuspecting recipient a LaundryExperience, and just wire in something with a bit more authority (I've been looking at the Wolo BadBoy from HarborFreight) - I have no problem with the electrics and wiring and fusage etc. (EE way back in the early 1970s), but I've found the ideal place for the push-button (right next to the dimmer-switch to the left of the steering wheel), and I'm wondering (1) how easy it is to remove/modify that panel, and (2) how to get through the firewall. Any help/instruction is much appreciated, so thanks in advance!
Well, mine is a sort of meep meep meep whisper! …whereas the WoloBadBoy is more of a WHAAAAAA! WHAAAAAA!
True, but I added a couple of Maserati Air Horns to my VW Rabbit (about 30 years ago when I first came to USA) and when I came to sell it, the young buyer fell in love with the Air Horns, so those are what sold the car! (same set up, original horn operated by centre of steering-wheel, and Maseratis on separate button!) I want a similar set up on TheChuggyPig!
Whilst your replacement suggestion is much appreciated, the real purpose of my original post was to (1) find out how to get into the blank panel to the left of the dimmer-control, and (2) how to get through the firewall. …any ideas? …anyone?
I have done what you are asking about and I have found a way, possibly a little unconvential but it worked really well I documented it under the thread what did you do to your prius today...I will try to post a link to that thread but not sure how hold on
I'm not sure what happened to my other post....maybe I just can't see it...its super easy to get to that panel and I by passed the firewall all together and went in underneath. If you have any questions just private message me or respond here
Sorry for flooding your post with nonsense you don't need anymore I see you have already finished your project, sorry for not checking the dates of your other posts
Thanks anyway, and don't forget, even though there is often Too Much Information ,as far as I'm concerned (particularly in Prius-related matters) No Information Is Ever Wasted!
