Has anyone experienced a power outage yet (due to the local power co) while charging their Prime? If so, I'd be curious what happens. When charging the Prime, if the power suddenly stops, once it comes back on will the Prime continue to charge, or stop? Here in SoCal (SCE), in my tract, we get brief power outages maybe every 2 months or so (not due to weather or high load) -- and the entire tract gets it, not just me. Power usually comes back on within 30 seconds, but clocks without battery backup capability always start blinking and need resetting. So I'm sure at some point a power outage will happen while I'm charging the Prime. Obviously outages (and then the power going back on) aren't a good thing, but what can I expect to happen?
I've unplugged my charger from the wall to move the cable then plugged it back in and it goes right back to charging. Shouldn't be any different. I've noticed that it doesn't charge immediately upon plugging in. I think the chip(s) analyse the batteries voltage etc before it starts charging. Nexus 6P ?
Why are outages obviously not a good thing? What makes brown outs on a laptop, your cell phone, a clock with battery backup any different than a plug in car?
The only issue is, if you have a charging schedule set and you're charging outside of it using "Charge Now", it probably won't re-start charging.
I would unplug it and wait for power to come back on. I would not want a power surge like you get sometimes.
I had a student who brought me a note once. It said, "Please excuse Dennis. He had to go to the doctor with his ears".
Our power is very reliable, but we did have a 30-second interruption a few days ago. Probably due some maintenance work being done by the local utility. The only thing that happened is that I received a notice from Entune: Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2018 02:37:21 +0000 (UTC) From: [email protected] Subject: Charge Notification - Charge Interruption Notification Dear Bear, Our systems indicate that your Bear-Mobile vehicle's charging process was interrupted. The charging process resumed when the power was restored and I later received the normal and usual charge completion notification. I am using a Leviton EVR-40 which is a basic EVSE charging unit. If your EVSE has network-enabled or other special features requiring a manual restart, your results may vary. That is, it's up to your EVSE to come back to life. When the Prime senses the power has been restored, it will just take up where it left off. One other comment: If you have your Prime set up on a charging schedule to allow enough time to be fully charged by some scheduled departure time, obviously it won't be able do this if there is no power during the hours which it's scheduled to be charging.
also if your scheduled charging has commenced and the power goes out you will have to manually charge now or else it will not continue charging when power is restored.
