Recently traded in my 2005 Prius for a very low mileage 2010.... the 2005 got better mileage. Can anybody tell me why?
welcome! not definitively, but there are many factors that affect mpg. have you measured several tank full at the pump?
Tires$ LRR vs conv. My 2010 is running around 48 mpg city with conventional tires. And normal driving habits. No hypermiling.
Yes. The answers are, no doubt, in one or more of the THOUSAND or so existing conversation threads already on here about fuel mileage. But really no, not without additional information.
As per fuelly's real world driving listed here: 2005 (292 vehicles).......43.6 mpg average. 2010 (1180 vehicles).....45.3 mpg average. This indicates that it is either your driving habits, tires/wheels, or an overdue maintenance issue. But it's not the model year.
