Tons of people on this forum use kW in place of kWh. Saying "how many kW does it take to charge a Prime" is the same as saying "how many horsepower does it take to fill your tank". I'm a power EE working in the renewable energy industry (wind energy research). Most people in the industry are mechanicals or aerospace engineers. Many of them have very little or no understanding of electricity or of the power grid, despite being in a field whose only product is electricity. Weird. I think it's because electricity is not visible therefore leading it to be mysterious to many people.
i tried to understand electricity, even read electricity for dummies, still no luck. nice that you can plug something in and it works though.
To generate a voltage, you need three things: 1) Magnetic Field (Flux) 2) Current-carrying conductor 3) Relative motion between 1 and 2. Some believe it to be witchcraft, others know better.
I think that I saw some electricity in a thunderstorm back in August. What if I plug my car into that?
