So I've had code P1121 on for about 3 months and never changed it cause i read it was no big deal. I dont know if this is related to my problems, but turned on the car today and red triangle, engine light, and vsc light, and touch screen says problem. I checked the code reader and it pulled up P1121 and P1116, I think it's for the same coolant control valve. I replaced it and put new cooling fluid, all Toyota recommended parts and fluid hoping this would remove everything. I cleared the code and left running for a 10 minutes and turned back on, but can't pull any codes off. I don't know the problem and don't want to drive with the triangle on. Any advice or help? I Left pics for reference.
The small battery that starts the car isn't the problem either, i replaced that this year. I think the other pump is working too cause when i look inside the filling reservoir, the water vibrates. Also want to mention that the hybrid battery fan in the car is now running. I have never herd it do that before tll everything happened.
I suspect your code reader cannot read all the Prius ECUs, specifically the ones to do with the HV battery. You may need to get or borrow a more capable reader, then the mystery will largely go away.
Ya it’s a cheap $30 one. Another thing I want to add is that the hybrid battery fan is running now. I’ve never herd it on before
mini vci and compatible laptop. fan sound is a clue to a bad battery. is the grille open and fan clean?
update: so got a different code reader and got some codes P0A80 and P3015 Both signs to bad battery right?
Yes. Is the an original california (CARB) car? If so, you might still have some warranty left (10yr/150k miles) or at least get a "good will" replacement.
