My car has 67k miles on it. And I’ve recently been hearing a noise coming from the back of my car, right beneath the backseat. It’s almost like a cracking/popping sound. Kind of like Rice Krispies or Pop Rocks candy. I’m worried there’s something possibly wrong with the battery, maybe? I also hear it when I’m riding beside other cars. Anyone else hear anything like I described above? Any advice on how to stop it? Thanks in advance.
when you're riding beside other cars, with the window down, like it's outside? how is it different than when you're not riding beside other cars?
That sound maybe coming from anywhere. I would suggest getting someone in the back seat while you're tooling down the road to try to pinpoint it Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Welp...that narrows it down lol I told an advisor at Toyota about the issue and he said it was normal...which I'm certain isn't. Hopefully its nothing major, and can be fixed somewhere else because it hasn't effected the car in any way so far.
I hear the sound of the tyre tread. Are you certain there's no small stone-chips stuck in the tread? How knobbly are your tyres? They sound quite knobbly (at least compared to those on mine!)
My tires in the front are about a 7-8 on tread. The back are terrible, I know that much. I can check for stones and whatnot in the morning. You didn't hear the other sound? It's pretty consistent at the :53 mark until I hit the back at 1:15
you can do the pebble in the tire check yourself. eliminate that before paying someone, or have a local mech put it on a lift and spin the tyres.
So I was told that it's the catalytic converter by one shop, then I went to another and they said it wasn't. If thats the case, would I even be able to drive it the way that I do? The performance isn't effected at all from what I can tell.
no idea, but i've never heard of a cc making noise. i suppose anything is possible, but unlikely on a car that new.
