OK, so I believe this is a fresh thread for the page... I think I need to remove one of the rear seats. Some BBQ sauce was spilled and has seeped down the cracks to the lower regions of the seat. The smell is not going away. The faux leather has cleaned well, but I have to get down in there to get the rest. Long shot, but has anyone removed them? How? thanks
Complete removal, disassembly, reassembly, and installation instructions for the rear seat assembly are given in Toyota’s Repair Manual (RM32D0U) for the Prius Prime, available by subscription to techinfo.toyota.com. See the section Vehicle Interior: Seat: Rear Seat Assembly. There are, alas, too many steps and figures for me to reproduce them here, but if the odor is sufficiently fœtid, $15 for a subscription would be money well spent. The manual gives some important tips, such as exactly where to pull up the seat cushions to avoid damage, and also the tightening torque for the bolts, 36.8 N·m {375 kgf·cm, 27 ft·lbf}, which is shown double-boxed, indicating its special importance for safety.
