drivers side personal interior light will not shut off or dim off as all the other interior lights do. This model does not have the ability to shut off the light by pushing on the clear cover.
Various Gen3s have at least 3 different light switch configurations, depending on vintage, trim, and sunroof choice. Only one version is to push the clear cover, the others are separate buttons. My 2012 with sunroof has separate push-button switches in between the driver and passenger lights. It is far less user friendly than the clear cover switch style of my previous base model 2010.
Yes I fiddled with the switch in ceiling that allows on, off and on then dim to off when doors close and the one on the dash that dims the consul lights and can turn on interior lights. Neither worked and light was on when driving and after turning off the car. Don't have a sun roof. Thanks for your insight.
That sounds like the dome light switch on my former 2010-II, not the reading light switches. That also won't be for the reading lights. To clarify, is this a reading light, not a vanity mirror light underneath the sun visor? Please, someone else chime in here. I am currently separated from my owner's manual that illustrates all the switch & light variations of different models. I can possibly get a picture of my 2012 switch arrangement in daylight tomorrow, but it is for a sunroof version, thus different from Kath9's car. And later, replace it with an LED lamp that consumes much less current, so that when it is on, it takes longer than overnight use to kill the 12V battery.
Yes it is a reading light. I removed the fuse so at this time I'm making due without any interior lights.
Have you looked in the Owner's Manual to see all possible light switch versions? My 2012 manual shows two types, and my car has the B version, so pushing the clear cover does nothing. But in the back of my mind, I seem to remember three different versions illustrated in the 2010 manual, which is no longer in my possession. 2012:
It sounds as if you would have the type B in the illustration. That's what my IV has. You would push the personal light button to turn it on/off ... as opposed to sliding the center slider, which only controls the lights functioning as a dome light. -Chap
I looked at the 2010 Prius Owner's Manual: https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM47668U/pdf/OM47668U.pdf I misremembered, it has the same two versions as my 2012. But as part of the 2012 midcycle refresh, the sneaky bums swapped the A & B type designations. See pages 365 and 364.
