I have been searching for the electrical wiring diagram for the Prius Prime. Has anyone been able to find one they can send me?
Have you checked techinfo.toyota.com? I am sure is it documented there, for a fee. @Elektroingenieur could verify.
Find, yes; send, no. As @ChapmanF describes in another thread, Toyota TIS (techinfo.toyota.com) has a very convenient interactive EWD Viewer, patented by Toyota’s supplier, Shintec Hozumi. It is possible to save much of the information for offline viewing, however. The Print button in the upper-right corner of each page provides either a PDF file of that page, which is unprotected and can be saved or printed, or an HTML version, which you can capture using your browser’s Save as PDF feature. You can see what is available on Toyota TIS without creating an account or subscribing. On the home page, under the features table on the left, click the >>Learn More link. Under The TIS Library, click the >>Lexus TIS Library, >>Scion TIS Library, or >>Toyota TIS Library link to open a table showing the publications available for each model year. At the top of the table, click a year to open a table showing the specific publications available for each model of that year. I’m holding out for a Century (yes, the new one is a hybrid), myself.
Try here. Snap On tool owns mitchells. Do it Yourself Automobile Repair Manuals - Mitchell 1 DIY What are you looking for?
TIS shows that no wiring diagram is available for the Prime. I joined anyways to see what was available and found some electrical info that will help. Thanks...
The wiring diagram for a regular gen 4 Prius is about 50 pages long. What exactly are you looking for. I got mine here. Do it Yourself Automobile Repair Manuals - Mitchell 1 DIY Mitchells is owned by Snap On Tool, see if they can help you.
I find that tough to believe—my 2001 Gen 1 wiring diagram (which I still have, though not the car) is 267 pages, and I doubt the Gen 4 got a lot simpler. I could believe 50 pages maybe for the condensed overall summary drawing (more or less what's "section M" in my 2001 book, and comes in at 42 pages). Not for the whole thing though. Of course it's kind of an apples-oranges comparison now, because how many "pages" is the EWD tab on techinfo really? You'd have to try clicking all the links and saving all the screens to PDF and then doing a page count; I expect it would come out well over 50. Umm, where did you look? Was the EWD tab missing or something, after you signed in? -Chap
I was just implying there are a lot of wiring diagrams. Lol I just checked there are 106 pages. Sometimes Mitchell's redraws wiring diagrams to make them more user friendly and they use the same format for all manufacturers.
He probably looked in the TIS index I mentioned above, which—when I checked it again just now—is completely wrong; sorry about that. I’m not sure why Toyota now says there are no wiring diagrams available for any model since the 2013 Hiace; that definitely hasn’t been my experience. How bizarre.
I wonder if they mean book-format wiring diagram manuals; maybe they consider the online EWD Viewer to be a separate thing, and it's all they produce post-2013? -Chap
The EWD is a very complete wiring diagram. Funny how they said one was not available. I printed a few pages out and saved many others for future reference. Thanks
As far as I know, a subscription to techinfo.toyota.com is still the only source. I’m not sure the EWD will be all that helpful for this, since it shows only the wiring and connections from the Navigation Receiver Assembly (Toyota’s term for the head unit) to other parts of the car, not its internal circuits, which aren’t documented in Toyota’s publications. That information isn’t needed by dealer technicians, who are expected just to replace defective units, which are then sent to a central depot for repair and refurbishment. Even for the external connections, you may find the information in the Repair Manual (more info) under Audio/Visual/Telematics: Navigation / Multi Info Display: Navigation System: Terminals of ECU more useful, since the tables in that section have functional descriptions and typical values not shown in the EWD.
You can get wiring diagrams for your car here. Snap-On tool owns them, they are no fly by night company. Do it Yourself Automobile Repair Manuals - Mitchell 1 DIY
I found some relevant info. Seems to be all of the PHV wiring diagrams and is consistent with observations to me for the Prime Toyota Prius PHV (Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle) / ZVW52L, ZVW52R (EM32E1E) Wiring Diagram | Free Download
