And faxing has been around since Xerox release the first fax machine in 1964. There were similar machines even earlier So it took 20 years, at least.

My wife won't give up her checkbook, she likes everything the old fashioned way.

I had a debit card once but the gas station I buy from wouldn't take it and it was from the state of Indiana, go figure.

I am completely on board with the latest tech. I've abandoned the use of our land line, can't tell you the last time I faxed anything, and make all purchases on my phone or notebook. My wife (on the other hand) refuses to have a mobile phone, writes checks for all of our monthly bills or uses plastic in stores, demands all bills arrive via snail mail, and always walks into our local bank for all account transactions.

Whenever our land line rings, which happens mostly due to robocalls, I refuse to get up to answer because I tell everyone to call me on my cell.

it is true, it is the year of the dog, but I am still writing chicken on my checks.

(I have only written one check in the last 6 months, no idea how many years since I faxed anything, I never had a land line in Greenwood. Face it, I only exist online)

my wife loved her checkbook and landline, but coming to florida every winter has brought her almost up to date with i phone and i pad to pay bills on line.
it's funny, some of us hate change, but often appreciate it after the pain is gone.

Many businesses locally at least are going back to not taking any form of plastic, debit or otherwise.
One place I frequent charges a buck extra for debit or plastic.

Many local restaurants are cash only, my landlord only takes check.

One local store takes cash, check or discover, no debit or other cards.

Go figure and 99% of the stuff I buy is either very difficult to find online or very expensive, much cheaper to just walk in lay down s few dollars and leave.

Amazon looses what? 7 billion a year on shipping, it’s been said many times that their business model of gaining market share over profit with free shipping will fail if gas prices go over $4 and the gubberment quits subsidizing semis.

If that happens what will all the greasy losers do when they dig out of their Cheeto covered lazy boy and find there are no physical stores to buy from?

Amazon grossed 177.8 Billion last year, the ?7? Billion was a loss?
What's Amazon gotta do for you~~~ for a gain?

    Greasy losers?
Do you mean truckers or the other 99.99% of the population that uses online banking?
    Truckers are subsidized?
Do you mean they do the most damage to roads and pay the same gas tax as all other vehicles?
Really, truckers should pay to maintain all roads to move water and meat to your door?

Some of the checks vs credit card usage is cultural.
When I came from a large city in Canada down here to Virginia in 1980 there were several cultural differences. In Canada at that time it was very common to use cheques to pay for large grocery bills. for instance. Down here in Virginia, people used credit cards for that. Both areas had credit cards and checks. They were just used differently, depending on the culture.

Every now and then somebody comes into my office and is shocked that I do not have a fax machine.

When asked why I do not use a fax machine, I always say....."the same reason that I don't clean my clothes by taking them down to the river and beating them with a rock!"

Sometimes I will add that the fax machine was patented back in '43.........1843!

These request for faxes are laughable, because they have one at work, everyone should have one at home. I read somewhere more paper is being used than ever.

I gave my very lightly used fax machine to Habitat For Humanity because I never used it.

Thing is, even if I had a fax machine, I have nothing to plug it in to. Haven't had a landline since 2008 or thereabouts.

Do Oahu gas stations still not accept out-of-state credit cards at the pump? Just curious, that was the situation about 6 years back.

Sure it's not just out of country cards?

My Canadian cards barely work in the US. None of my Scotiabank cards work via mag-stripe. Chip only. And the US is still in the dark ages about chip readers. Then gas stations in the US have a stupidly formatted "security question", even with the chip. Enter your billing zip code... It only takes 5 digits. No way to enter alphanumeric or more than 5 characters so postal codes won't work.

The US cards work all over the world, just enter 0000 or 1111 as the pincode generally but they're also setup for more global users.
