Hey everyone! I used to lease a 2014 Prius C3 for a couple years and then had a Scion iM (so boring) for a couple years. I decided to get back in to the Prius and ended up buying the 2018 Prius 2 Eco in Blizzard Pearl and could not be happier! I forgot how much I love driving the Prius. A couple things I have noticed: The Standard Prius drives SO much smoother than the C and is so much more comfortable. I noticed that my new Eco will hit EV at much higher speeds (65-70mph!) for better coasting. I am happy with the Two Eco trim and got a good deal on it relative to the Three and higher. So many new bells and whistles and data to look at! I forgot how much I like the smell of the Prius. Ionized air? Anyone else know what I mean? Anyways, glad to be back and love my new Prius and I'll be sticking around! I may even start to do some customization here and there.
Welcome back! Where are you located? You ECO has a Li-Ion battery instead of the NiMH one in the older Prii and in my trim two. I believe you will find a lot of the "pulse & glide" logic is now built in tot he car. The Radar Cruise control responsiveness is tied to Drive Mode. I find ECO too slow a response so I use Normal mode. PWR mode accelerator response is a little too extreme for my comfort. The ECO, like many Gen 4 Prius has no spare tire, but I guess you realize that. It has a compressor that needs to be used with the can of sealant, IIRC. My trim two has a spare tire.
Yeah, the salesman pointed out the no spare which I thought was weird at first, but I will be city driving 98% of the time so I'm not that concerned about it. The one that threw me for the biggest loop was no rear wiper blade, but have already gotten used to it. One of the reasons I picked the Two Eco over the standard Two or Three was I really wanted the Blizzard Pearl and this was the only one on the lot. I could have gotten a red Three but it was a couple thousand more and didn't think it was worth it for the features it provided. The other Twos on the lot were all colors I wasn't at all interested in.
Ok, so I’m not totally crazy. I tried explaining this to non Prius folk (is there a muggle term equivalent?) and they thought I was nuts. Lol. iPhone ?
I would recommend not mentioning it to others, it's something us Prius owners prefer to keep to ourselves
3rd gen apparently used some organic plastics, plant material based? I know I've read this somewhere, but can't find now. Maybe 4th gen too? I know our 2010 was the first new car without the (toxic??) new-car smell. I'm almost 100% agreement on that, rarely if ever needed. Still, might be an argument for it today, around here: out of the blue we're getting hit: (A few hours back, still going, getting deeper.)
I only noticed it because we had a freak snow storm on Thursday here in Boise and was looking for it, but since then we've been good and it hasn't been an issue.
We had a cold snap of 20F today and my MPG took a definite hit. Ah, feels good to be back! These are great forums too.
Which country are you in? Your profile is blank? (don't forget there are members from all over the known universe on PriusChat.)
Thanks for posting the feedback and welcome back. My first prius and almost went to a Scion IM myself given the price and the vast similarities between my previous toyota matrix and the IM but very happy with the Prius. Unfortunately, I cannot talk much about my car except on here because few give Prius the credit the car deserves.
Glad you're loving your new Two Eco! You got the best color, too. Welcome back. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
