Pulled the following information. My 2008 is getting old and having issues, any of this information indicate anything? Currently dealing with random code for cat efficiency and misfire. Catcomp1 1619 catcond1 910 o2scomp1 1455 o2scomd1 910. Egrcomp 2896. Egrcond 917. Eva comp 220. Evacond 172.
I've had the code for cat efficiency on two old Prii. They both drank oil and at well over 200k they threw that code. Got a replacement cat for $90 on Amazon, took it to a local shop and they welded it on for $70. No more codes and it runs better now. Hope this helps
That sounds great, my issue is finding a shop that would do that. I started some inquires but the responses were not favorable. Wish I could weld! Was the drinking oil effected by the change in new cat?
For more money, there are bolt on cats. 2004-2009 Toyota Prius Catalytic Converter - Bosal 096-1692 - - PartsGeek.com
Any, shop that works on exhust CAN do a Prius. It is no different then a Ford F150, or a Toyota Camry! I don't know if it will make a difference, but I doubt it.
Anyone used the bolt on replacement? Any actual experience? I looked into that option previously but was not sure what would be coming from where I was looking back then.
I have not, sorry. And both CA and NY prohibit non-certified Cats, and the Prius has no certified cats except Toyota's. So it would be someone in a flyover state.
