Are Homelink Buttons on mirror supposed to light up? Only think I could find are threads from 2011 and I figured it would be figured out by now. thanks
The dealer told me they don't either and said the reason was that some people complained about the mirror being lit up. I had another car with the same exact mirror and they lit up. I wonder if a wire is left disconnected intentionally. To get them to light would be to just connect the wire or a fuse perhaps, something like that. I don't believe Homelink makes a mirror specifically for Toyota so the buttons don't light up. We'll see.
In a previous discussion, it was pointed out that the mirror assembly used by Toyota is made by a vendor which supplies this assembly to several manufacturers and that the buttons are not lighted. There is a partial work-around discussed in this PriusChat thread. Your comment "The dealer told me they don't either and said the reason was that some people complained about the mirror being lit up" sounds like total made-up-on-the-fly dealer BS.
Thank you for the details. Thats a clever idea about using the button next to the green indicator for the primary location.
On 3rd gen, and I'm surmising it's similar: I use the leftmost button, and just go by feel: running fingers left-to-right you can feel the indent of the button. Goofy to have to do this though, lol.
