Here a good Prius Prime commentary from he ChargePoint folks: The Complete Guide to Charging the Toyota Prius Prime - ChargePoint I like mine for sure! Especially with more than half of my miles coming from Austin Energy for $50/year, and the rest of it about 40% cheaper per mile than 55MPG gas. The biggest economy improvement may well be that, with 15Kmiles on the car, the engine only has like 1300 miles on it. I bet I can keep this car going for 300Kmiles or more. That’s potentially huge savings there! Typed by Mr88cet’s dancing thumbs
They said in there that the P.Prime doesn’t have as much EV range as the Volt, but is more efficient running on a combination of gas an electric. That’s very true of course, and I agree that the overriding design goal of the P.Prime was/is high efficiency. However, it’s worth adding that the P.Prime is more efficient even if you run it entirely on EV! I at least am getting 4.6 to 4.7 miles per KWh, and my Volt-driving colleagues are getting more like 4.2ish on their Volts (Gen 1). Now, granted, it’s “trickier” to drive mostly on EV in the P.Prime than on the Volt (it takes more planning for the most part), but it’s considerably more efficient whether you use gas or not. iPad ? Nothing against the Prime, but that article from chargepoint looks like an SEO only article. Thanks for sharing in good spirits though
Admittedly, I hadn’t heard that term either. I gather he’s speculating that it was written in a manner to maximize the probability of getting googled.
And, the title is misleading. If the guide were complete, it would include other chargers around town & the possibility of charging with solar at home. The title is misleading to attract errant clicks IMHO.
Not surprisingly, they emphasize how much the ChargePoint app helps with finding charging stations, without mentioning (unless I just missed it) the P.Prime’s built-in Charge-station-finding functions. Of course, the P.Prime charge-finder app finds non-ChargePoint chargers, and I can’t recall whether the Plus trim includes those apps... Still, I don’t want to complain; ChargePoint Stations have been very valuable in keeping my P.Prime charged! Typed by Mr88cet’s dancing thumbs
They are sure to mention the free Chargepoint card which, I believe is US only though. To be close to complete they should have mentioned the builtin charger locating feature. I wonder if @Team ChargePoint is taking notes. Honesty sells. Anything else just promotes skepticism in a company or product.
[QUOTE="mr88cet, post: 2695467, member: 44632" the P.Prime’s built-in Charge-station-finding functions. [/QUOTE] Where is that? I know how to find gas stations, but I've never heard about a charge station finder built in.
It starts with the Entune app, then goes on to the in-vehicle app. I personally don’t frequently use the app itself much, but I do keep the charging-station icons showing on the normal map, and find that useful. Typed by Mr88cet’s dancing thumbs
