Hi. I just purchased a Prime yesterday and noticed today when attempting to charge it that it only has a plug for a standard electrical outlet. Where do you recommend getting a 240v charging cable or adapter for this car? I already have a 240v outlet in my garage.
Congratulations. I searched "level II ev charger" on eBay and purchased one for about $230. Should be cheaper now. Works great and charges my car in half the time. Nexus 6P ?
While 110 volt has a nice standardized plug, 220 has a bewildering array of choices. If you have a 220 outlet already, you can match that receptacle, but if you are having an electrician install one, you have choices. My daughter is considering an outlet in her garages ceiling, so I am leaning toward a L14-30 as it is a locking plug, won't fall out. amazon.com/Charger-Portable-Electric-Charging-Compatible/dp/B0758TLC8H amazon.com/ClipperCreek-LCS-20P-SAFETY-CERTIFIED-America/dp/B06XYR4X1W amazon.com/Maxgreen-Adjustable-Portable-Electric-Compatible/dp/B073ZCFLMB amazon.com/Level-Portable-Electric-Vehicle-Charger/dp/B018A6QK7C amazon.com/dp/B075GHTW86/?coliid=I2LAJE84DYY183 I do not feel any plug is 'better' than another, I hope these show you some of your choices
If you already have a 220/240v outlet in your garage purchase the plug to match that. I already had a 220v outlet for my air compressor so I made sure my charger matched that. Nothing extra to purchase or install. Nexus 6P ?
Clipper Creek has a lot of choices. Just don't change your wall outlet to match a plug. The different outlets are for different amp outputs. I bought a plug-in version from Clipper Creek. I've been very happy with it.
And as with so many things on amazon these days...Feel free to do some price shopping. You'll find that in this case Clipper Creek will sell the unit directly to you for $16 less. Just visit their store directly.
So True, I was showing diversity in 220 plugs, not best prices, or wisest choices. The examples were chosen because they showed the plug style prominently in the ad. i mentioned considering an L14-30 as my daughter want a ceiling plug and it locks. Normally you want that to unplug easily so if you forget to unplug, it comes out at the wall.
Excellent, I was worrying about damaging her car. (My older brother bought a blue Prime Premium last night, she is thinking about a blue Prime Plus in July. My sister and I each own a grey 2012 Prius V three)
