Hello all - New to forum, and seeking to buy a used 2010/11 Prius. I went to test-drive a 2010 the other day and something odd happened. Wanted to ask all of you if I should pass on the car, or spend the time/money to look into the issue. It has 196k miles on it ($5k), and during the test drive everything was fine with one exception. Twice, after sitting at a red light for at least a minute or two, when the ICE started up after pressing accelerator, the car shook a bit and there was little power at all to move forward...like it wasn't finding the gear (I know Prius' doesn't have gears). The issue didn't last long, but happened twice. At other red lights when we didn't sit so long, no issues. Should I have it inspected, or just move on? Thanks!!!
That could be the problem. On a used gen 3, I wouldn't touch anything over 150k miles unless there's some good service records on cleaning the EGR system.....unless it's really cheap and you already have an available engine available to swap it.
Thanks for the quick responses!! I suppose that’s the reason why this is the only 2010 in my budget! I’ll move on and hope something else pops on my radar soon. Thanks again!
Yeah, even down here in FL, you'd probably struggle to find anything decent for that price newer than about 2008. In fact, with equivalent odometer readings, I'd trust the '08 more than the '10 even with the battery age difference.
I just sold off 2 of my gen2 cars, $3000 each. Both over 200k miles. Great cars but just couldn't drive all of them. Let somebody else benefit from the reliability
I needed to clear room so I can buy more when they come around. I couldn't drive all I had around. I was maxed out. Lol
