Howdy folks! It's my first post here, and my first Prius. Well, I haven't purchased it quite yet; I'm test driving it. It's a 2015 Three Hatchback 4D model with only 7,500 miles on it. Chances are good I'll buy it, however. I think it's a great car. What's confusing me is the headlight situation. I sold a 2008 Toyota Camry SE for this car, and the Camry had automatic headlights -- set it to Auto, and forget it. I loved that feature. This Prius has DRLs -- LED bulbs in the air dam -- that I can turn off or on. Not automatic. And the car has a Type B light stalk -- no Auto feature on it. But, according to a feature brochure, the car has Projector-beam halogen headlights with auto-off feature. Does that mean if I select the headlights option on the light stalk that the headlights will turn themselves off and on? Thanks in advance for any help. I searched the forum but my Google-Fu failed me.
That's surprisingly low miles for a 2015 -- a real find if it's legit! My stalk has an AUTO position. Maybe it's an option? UPDATE: I found this: "Auto-On appeared with the 2012 makeover, becoming standard on the Four and Five trims" I have a Five trim, so I guess that's why I have it.
That means that if you shut the car off and walk away, but left the lights on, the car will turn them off after XX minutes so you don't kill the 12v battery. Next time you start the car, the headlights will come on, whether it's day or night. It's not the same as an auto headlight feature.
Yeah, it's legit alright. The car is dang-near brand new. It still has that showroom-new smell. And yeah, I think it was an option. Apparently there were three kinds of light stalks available for that Prius. Who knew?
