So for a while now our 05 Prius has had a fluctuating battery level. This past sat we were driving and the red triangle light came on. Now I have a basic code reader, I checked and it said n/a for code so I cleared it well it came back to the point where it was very rapid at coming back on. We got the point where it was very sluggish and slow to get up to speed. Seemed like the gas engine didn’t come on and still has a code. I’m afraid it’s the hybrid battery and don’t want to spend the money to fix it. I’m looking to see if anyone has any input or help they can offer if they’ve had the same issues
Its the hybrid battery. If you see a little car icon on the mfd like a turtle and the battery charge level is going from full to purple real fast its the hybrid battery. Non stop posts about it here. The car is pretty worthless without full hybrid battery contribution so you basically have to stomp on the gas to go. But that wont last long before it dies completely. So find a place to park it before it dies. Also a basic code reader will not harvest hybrid codes so you will not see all the codes the car is throwing. Use the search forums button on top of this page and enter: hybrid battery you have alot of reading to do.
What other lights are on? Maybe a picture? Be sure to check your oil level and make sure your water pump belt is still attached.
