Hi All, I will be towing my 2011 Toyota Prius about 1k miles this weekend on a uhaul car hauler. Could someone make a recommendation to me as the best places to attach the ratchet straps to the prius to hold it onto the car hauler? Thanks, kehyler
It's been a while since I've rented one of those trailers, but last time I checked the integrated straps were all designed to capture the front tires of the carried car.
Meaning that they aren't just a straight strap but a "web" that goes over the top of the tire. The model of car makes no difference.
I'm trying to come up with a backup plan, also for someday when I have my own trailer. What cross-members could I wrap a chain around? Are there any strong tie-down points that I could loop a hook through?
I have newer towed a 3rd gen but how I tow 2nd gens and 90% of other cars on my trailer is by one long strap grabbing front tires and pulling towards front of trailer and long strap grabbing both rear tires and pulling towards rear of the trailer. *straps running through the rims* *be careful not to strap over tire valve unless you want to replace* *I'm sure the car will be in park but applying park/emergency brake as well is good so the rear wheels dont spin over long distance* If you cannot feed it underneath the car it's fine to strap just one front tire and one rear tire. Have successfully transported at least 300 cars a total of 20,000 miles this way and never damaged one or lost one Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
THIS. Or one strap through each individual wheel in a similar fashion would be a little bit more secure.
